Northeastern officials have withdrawn four students from a program in New Jersey, following an incident in which two of the students were dressed like members of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) on July 6 by paramedics affiliated with the program.

The students alleged to university officials that they were forced by paramedics from Newark's University Hospital, which is operated by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), to dress in white sheets to echo the attire worn by KKK members, said Jim Chiavelli, interim director of communications.

Jacob Izenberg '08 always wanted to go to medical school, but first he planned to take a year off and hoped to live in a foreign country. He found "the ideal way to go abroad," he said - a Fulbright grant. Izenberg is one of 21 recent Brown graduates to receive a Fulbright scholarship this year.

The Boston College community has seen its list of high profile guests make a stop on campus, but none possessed a presence as persistent and simultaneously down-to-earth as legendary newsman and NBC News Washington bureau chief Tim Russert.



His passing comes only a few weeks after his last visit to campus, when his son Luke, BC '08, graduated.



Vice President and Special Assistant to the President Rev. William Neenan, S.J., recalled a conversation he had with Russert during a reception at the Jesuit's Roberts House on campus that same day.



"He assured us that even though Luke was graduating, he would stay continuously involved in the life of BC," Neenan said.

Staff at Snell Library reported that a man, who has no university connection, was viewing pornographic websites on a library computer. Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officers escorted the man, who signed himself into the library as a guest, off campus and issued him a trespass warning.
